RMT Press Office:
RMT has launched a new digital archive bringing more than two decades of RMT News together in one searchable collection for the first time.
The RMT News Archive currently contains 194 editions and more than 3,900 indexed articles dating from 2004 to the present day, providing a unique record of the union, its members and the struggles that have shaped the transport sector over the past two decades.
Instead of searching through individual magazine PDFs, members and researchers can now search the entire collection by keyword, name, workplace, company, campaign or dispute.
Users can also browse chronologically by year and edition, read individual indexed articles, open the original magazine pages and explore recurring subjects across more than 20 years of RMT News.
The archive covers a period of enormous change across the industries where RMT organises; from rail privatisation and outsourcing to disputes over jobs, pay, pensions and safety, alongside campaigns for public ownership and the continuing fight to defend seafarers and transport workers.
It also provides a record of the thousands of RMT members, representatives and activists whose workplace struggles might otherwise be difficult to discover outside the pages of the original magazines.
The collection begins in 2004 and will continue to grow, with new editions of RMT News being added to the archive as they are published.
The latest September/October 2026 edition is already available, alongside every indexed edition in the collection.
Search the archive
Whether you're looking for a particular dispute, researching the history of a workplace, tracking a campaign through the years or simply exploring RMT's past, the archive is designed to make that history accessible.
