Dear Colleague
REORGANISATION AND REDUNDANCIES – HEATHROW EXPRESS
Further to my letter dated the 10th September 2014 in relation to the above, I can now inform you that a meeting has been held at Head Office with our HEX Representatives, Assistant General Secretary and members of the General Grades Committee to discuss matters of concern that arose throughout this campaign.
Therefore, to address these concerns I have made arrangements for Special Branch Forums to be held on Thursday 9th October 2014 between 16.00-18.00 hours and Friday 10th October 2014 between 11.00-13.00 hours at the Fountains Abbey in Paddington to allow our HEX members to exchange their views regarding the company’s proposals and the union’s campaign to oppose the implementation of Driver Only Operation (DOO). These meetings will be attended by the Lead Officer, Assistant General Secretary and members of the General Grades Committee.
In this regard, I herewith enclose a copy of the company’s revised proposals for your perusal and I would ask that you make every effort to attend these important meetings. Further, I would like to reiterate that the General Grades Committee ‘respect the status of our supreme governing body, the RMT Annual General Meeting and the fact that the policy laid down by numerous previous AGMs is that this proud union will oppose DOO.’
In addition to the above, I will be seeking a further meeting with HEX management with a view to removing any reference to the RMT approving Driver Only Operation (DOO), One Person Operation (OPO) and Driver Responsibility Operation (DRO) and I will be advising our Negotiating Team of the union’s policy in opposition to DOO in any form. Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our affected members for their on going support and solidarity and for standing firm against HEX vindictive actions. The RMT and its members are determined to defend our opposition to the implementation of DOO and resist these attacks from management.
Best wishes.
Mick Cash
General Secretary
