RMT blames cuts as rail services hit by staff shortages

General Secretary Mick Cash said: "The reports this morning that key rail services into London have been hit by staff shortages come as no surprise to RMT as we have been warning for months that if you hack staffing levels to the bone you run the constant risk of services grinding to a halt.

"In the new year train companies , including Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern,  are threatening more staffing cuts which would make a dire service even worse. With passengers stumping up thousands of pounds a year to travel these routes they will be rightly discussed at this shocking level of service which is solely down to private profiteering. "
