RMT Calls 48 Hour Strike Action on Arriva Trains Wales

RMT drivers on Arriva Trains Wales will be taking strike action next week in response to the company dragging its heels over a revised pay offer for the 2015 pay award.

At a meeting with the company RMT was verbally advised that should the union agree to new productivity negotiations around PNB parameters and movement times, then the company would consider revising the first year element of their original pay offer.

Since that meeting no formal offer has been received and management appear to be dragging their feet over this issue. In order to force the company to take this matter seriously, the union’s executive committee has now taken the decision to call on all our ATW Train Driver members to take the following strike action.

All affected members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

 
•         00:01 on Thursday 22nd October 2015 to 23:59 on Friday 23rd October 2015

 
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:

“RMT is not prepared to tolerate Arriva Trains Wales delaying tactics any longer. Train drivers deserve a fair pay offer and real improvements in their working conditions.
 
“We have been left with no alternative than to call strike action to show the company that drivers will not be treated with contempt over such important issues as pay and terms and conditions.”
