Dear Colleagues

RMT CALLS 48 HOUR STRIKE ACTION

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2015
ARRIVA TRAINS WALES, DRIVERS

First of all let me congratulate all of you on the recent ballot, you produced an excellent result and you should be commended for standing together in solidarity. I can report that the union’s negotiating team has met with Arriva Trains Wales to discuss the 2015 pay award. At the meeting the company verbally advised that should the RMT agree to new productivity negotiations around PNB parameters and movement times, then they would consider revising the first year element of their original pay offer from 2.1% to 2.5%.

Although this is a step in the right direction, no formal offer has yet been received and management appear to be dragging their feet over this issue. In order to force the company to take this matter seriously, the union’s executive committee has now taken the decision to call on all our ATW Train Driver members to take the following strike action.

All affected are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

•    00:01 on Thursday 22nd October 2015 to 23:59 on Friday 23rd October 2015

Now is the time to stand together with your colleagues. A show of strength will show management that you are not prepared to tolerate their delaying tactics any longer in offering a fair pay offer and real improvements to your working conditions.

They can no longer doubt your steadfast determination to refuse to stand by and allow them to treat you with utter contempt over such important issues as your pay and your terms and conditions.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
