RMT calls for action to ensure safety of transport staff as pubs reopen in England tomorrow

RMT Senior Assistant General Secretary Mick Lynch said;

“RMT is seriously concerned that the reopening of the pubs may well run alongside a loosening of the safety and social distancing regulations that we have agreed across the transport network and that must not be allowed to happen.

“There is a real danger that some people may roll out of the pubs and onto our buses, tubes and trains without keeping their distance and flaunting the requirement to wear masks.

“That must not be allowed to happen and the Government and the operators need to send out a clear message that action will be taken, staff will be protected and that RMT members will not be thrown into confrontational and potentially dangerous situations."
