RMT Press Office:
RMT has suspended planned strike action today and Monday by Rail Gourmet members on the TransPennine Express (TPE) contract, following significant progress on disciplinary issues.
Our members had voted overwhelmingly for industrial action due to Rail Gourmet’s breach of its own disciplinary procedures, failing to provide formal notifications and outcomes. However, following meaningful discussions, Rail Gourmet has committed to:
-
Refresher training for all managers and team leaders on disciplinary, grievance, bullying, and harassment procedures.
-
Reviewing the existing agreement with RMT to establish a stronger framework for negotiations.
-
Ensuring disciplinary transparency and providing disciplinary appeal outcomes within 48-72 hours.
RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said: “Our members’ unity, fortitude and willingness to take strike action have pushed Rail Gourmet to address a toxic management culture.
"We welcome these commitments, and we will ensure Rail Gourmet management upholds its obligations in creating a decent workplace where staff are treated properly."
