RMT demands to know what's going on as Peter "Punch Up" Wilkinson resigns as director of company set up to take over GTR

RAIL UNION RMT today demanded to know what’s going on as it emerged that Peter “Punch Up” Wilkinson, Director of Passenger Services at the DfT, has resigned as a director of the limited company set up and on stand-by to take over from the failing GTR rail franchise.

The Company is called DFT OLR2 Limited (Company Number 03266762) – OLR2 stands for Operator of Last Resort 2. OLR1 was the holding company that went on to take over the East Coast after Virgin went belly-up on the routes.

Companies House confirmed today that a MR PETER WILLIAM WILKINSON had his directorship of OLR2 terminated last night.

‎RMT General Secretary, Mick Cash said:

“The whole GTR/Southern saga gets murkier and murkier and it’s about time the truth of what’s going on behind the scenes was dragged out into the daylight and subjected to public scrutiny.

“It is pretty clear to everyone that OLR2 is the company set up and on standby to take over from the failed GTR/Southern operation but why Pete Wilkinson, the man who boasted at the infamous Croydon Tory Party meeting that he was looking forward to a punch up with the unions, was a director in the first place is beyond me.

“It’s time the veil of secrecy was lifted and the truth was revealed to the fare payers who have been coughing up for this fiasco since the contract was first let to Govia Thameslink Railways. This whole sordid episode should be drawn to a close now and the public sector drafted in to rescue the situation.”
