RMT members at Freightliner are to take strike action on Thursday and Friday this week to demand pay justice following an overwhelming ballot vote for industrial action.
The 48-hour action will affect Freightliner Ltd and Freightliner Railport and will involve nearly 500 members after the company refused to give the same pay increase that it has given to other staff.
RMT general secretary Mick Cash said that It was abundantly clear that the company’s offer simply wasn’t good enough.
“We demand nothing less than a substantial improvement and parity with other grades.
“The whole point of this dispute is to demand equality and fair treatment to all whatever your job is and no two-tier workforce.
“The solidarity and determination of those workers involved in the dispute has been incredible and we are determined to win pay justice,” he said.
Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-00:01 hours on Thursday October 22 until 23.59 on Friday October 23.
