RMT Press Office:
RMT on Freightliner’s parent company being sold to Singapore infrastructure fund
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:
“RMT is concerned that an important freight provider is being traded between foreign owners whose priority will not be the UK economy, UK jobs and providing a rail freight infrastructure that can meet the challenges of the future green economy.
“RMT will be engaging with Freightliner at a meeting in July and naturally we will be seeking assurances on the future job security of our members and the freight services they work on.
“It is RMT's view that these vital freight services would be better provided in the public sector as part of a coherent, integrated and green transport policy.”
