RMT on Labour’s announcement to reverse Tory cuts to 3000 bus routes and fund the expansion of new bus services
RMT has today welcomed the announcement by Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn that there will be new funding to reverse the cuts made to 3000 bus routes by the Tories since 2010 and to fund the expansion of new bus services.
RMT also welcomed the Labour leader’s commitment to create bus networks under public ownership.
Speaking on the eve of the RMT national bus workers conference in Salisbury, RMT general secretary Mick Cash said,
“This reversing of the horrendous Tory and Lib Dem austerity cuts inflicted on bus services will be welcomed by bus passengers and workers alike.
“The threat of climate change and the importance of buses to our communities and economy means we cannot afford not to invest in our bus services.”
