RMT on ORR and RSSB wading in to support Southern Rail and Government tonight.
General Secretary Mick Cash said:
" The RSSB is funded by the train companies so of course they are going to wade in to support one of their financial backers in this dispute over the safety-critical role of the guards. They are bought and sold by the TOC's and the idea that they are independent is ludicrous.
"RSSB's own reports in the past have questioned the safety of Driver Only Operation and now on the eve of this strike they are wheeled out to prop up the failed Govia Thameslink operation and their cheerleaders in Government. It's the old "who pays the piper calls the tune" and its frankly sickening that the rail industry is reduced to this.
"The ORR is actually entirely funded by the Government. The idea that they are independent in any way on this issue is ‎beyond contempt.
"Passengers under the daily cosh of Govia Thameslink will not be fooled by this fit up by these quangos. "
