RMT Press Office:
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"There is a serious danger of the chaos of last May being repeated on Britain's railways if the train companies don't stop their corner-cutting. You cannot run a railway on a wing and a prayer without adequate provision for both staffing and fleet. If the industry hasn't learnt that lesson then any planned timetable expansion is doomed to failure.
"RMT also has no confidence whatsoever in the self-styled Rail Delivery Group which has shown itself to be nothing more than a fan club for the toxic combination of privatisation and failed Tory transport secretary Chris Grayling.
"We do not believe for a moment that they are fit to run a railway and will step up the campaign for their broken franchise model to be swept away and replaced with a publicly-owned operation free from private greed and exploitation."
