RMT pledges to fight Boris Johnson's austerity cuts budget

RMT Press Office

Responding to the London Mayor's budget plans released this morning General Secretary Mick Cash said;

"No matter how Mayor Boris Johnson tries to dress this up his budget plans have at their core massive cuts to Transport services that can only be met through hammering down on jobs and safety and hiking up fares for the travelling public.

"Against a background of surging demand, serious overcrowding and regular breakdowns the Mayor and his Government are ladling out another dose of austerity cuts that will tip transport services over the edge.

"RMT remains committed to‎ fighting the transport cuts by all means including through the use of industrial action. Our members, and the public that they provide services for, will not pay the price for Boris Johnson's political ambitions. "
