RAIL union RMT praised railway workers following a serious derailment of a Southern Railways train this afternoon (Thursday August 13) near Lewes in Sussex.
RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said that the union was grateful that there were no fatalities.
“We must praise emergency services and rail workers for there quick reactions under difficult circumstances on the hottest day of the year.
“We will need to reflect on the causes of this incident once a full investigation has been carried out,” he said.
