RMT repeats call for GTR and Northern to be stripped of franchises as timetable chaos continues into second week
With official performance figures this morning showing that around a third of services on GTR and Northern have either been delayed or cancelled rail union RMT has repeated the call for both operators to be stripped of their franchises and the routes returned to public ownership.
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"The chaos on Britain's railways continues again this morning with large numbers of services delayed or cancelled leaving RMT members at the sharp end bearing the brunt of public anger while the company bosses hide away in their luxury offices.
"Both GTR and ARN have declared war on passengers, staff and the safety culture with their relentless drive to maximise profits.
"This situation is only allowed to continue with the connivance of Chris Grayling and the Tory Government who refuse point blank to act. RMT is repeating the call again this morning for Govia and Arriva to have their contracts terminated and the franchises returned to public ownership."
