RMT Scotrail guards to strike at Glasgow Central over abuse of disciplinary procedures

RAIL UNION RMT confirmed today that Scotrail guards are to strike at Glasgow Central in a series of actions from the end of this month over the abuse of disciplinary procedures

Following a ballot RMT's Lead Officer and local Union Reps have met to discuss the appropriate form of industrial action which has been approved by the unions executive as follows;

Alll Scotrail Conductor members located at Glasgow Central are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 29th November 2020
00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 6th December 2020
00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 13th December 2020
00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 20th December 2020
00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 27th December 2020
00.01 hours until 23.59 hours on Sunday 3rd January 2021

Members are also instructed not to work any Rest Days, Higher Grade Duty or Overtime from 00.01 hours on Monday 30th November 2020 until 23.59 hours on Saturday 2nd January 2021.

General Secretary Mick Cash said:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Scotrail Conductor members located at Glasgow Central for returning an overwhelming yes vote in the ballot for industrial action and for the continued support they have shown the Union.

"I urge our affected members to stand united and support the forthcoming days of industrial action to send a clear message to management that we will not tolerate these continued attacks on the Conductor grade and to bring an immediate stop to the punitive disciplinary action against our members.‎"
