RMT Press Office:
RAIL UNION RMT has slammed Southern Rail’s vindictive decision to withhold agreed backdated holiday pay and demand that staff agree not to take part in any further strike action before it is paid out which is a serious breach of legislation.
RMT general secretary Mick Cash said that it was it was despicable that the company felt it necessary to try and hoodwink staff into signing an agreement that sole purpose is to stop lawful industrial action.
A copy of the letter from the company trying to force Southern guards to sign away their basic employment and human rights is attached.
“This is just another outrageous and bullying attack by this basket case company on front line staff who are doing nothing other than fighting for public safety.
“Trying to force staff to sign away their basic human rights has more in common with a right wing military dictatorship than it does with a modern railway,” he said.
