RMT warns of serious safety risks across tube network

25 February 2016

RMT Press Office:

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said; "RMT has warned repeatedly of serious and dangerous overcrowding on the tube network and this mornings panic and crush at Canada Water is yet another wake up call for a tube management that is winging it on passenger and staff safety.

Commuters 'suffer panic attacks' during rush hour crush on Tube

Commuters suffered panic attacks during a rush hour crush on the Jubilee line, it was claimed. Crowd control measures were brought into force at Canada Water, North Greenwich and Waterloo stations after signalling provlems at Stanmore sparked chaos on the line.

"It is grossly negligent to be cutting back and undermining safety critical staff at a time when LU is clearly on a knife edge. Those cuts have to stop and RMT repeats it's demand for a London transport safety summit involving all parties as a matter of urgency."
