RMT Press Office:
RMT responds to Transport Select Committee inquiry into Government's Integrated Rail plan.
RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:
“For all its rhetoric on rail the fact is that the government, driven by the treasury, is now preparing for widespread cuts.
“That means axing services and staff in the short term and shelving or scaling back projects in the long term which will mean more pollution and more carbon emissions.
“We therefore welcome the Transport Committee’s inquiry into the integrated rail plan which we hope will expose the gap between rail rhetoric and rail reality being spouted by government ministers.”
