Second full day of First Great Western strike "rock solid" with pickets out in force
Pickets are out in force again this morning as a strike over jobs, services and safety on First Great Western enters it's second full day. (picture from Paddington picket this morning attached for press use. Please credit RMT).
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"The solidarity, unity and fighting spirit of RMT members the length and breadth of the FGW franchise has been a fantastic example for the whole trade union movement as we face up to attacks on our jobs and conditions and the safe delivery of services to the travelling public.
"Our pickets have reported strong public support for this action as the people who use these routes know only too well what profiteering and cuts mean in terms of their safety and the quality of service. RMT wants to thank the public for that support.
"The message from FGW staff has rung out loud and clear and it is now down to the company to get back round the table and give us the very basic assurances on jobs, services and safety that RMT has been calling for. "
