RMT Press Office:
As South Western Railway hauled in to account for their failures RMT says last thing they should be doing is axing guards.
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"The news that South Western Railway are being hauled in by the passenger watchdog today to account for their abysmal performance should be a wake up call to this company and should force an immediate halt to their plans to axe guards from their trains in the name of profit.
"There is something very wrong with this franchise and its priorities as both passengers and staff are well aware. Instead of putting up the usual barrage of excuses the company should be in the room with the union mapping a way forward that guarantees safety, security and access for all."
