RMT says jump in Southern Rail operator revenues proves they are putting profits before safety
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"Passengers subjected to the daily chaos on Southern Rail's notorious services will be rightly angry when they see that the operator, Go Ahead, is reporting a significant jump in revenues this morning despite moving fewer passengers.
"With the company pressing on with the extension of Driver Only Operation, and the removal of our guards, the latest trading report confirms RMT's claim that they are putting private profits before public safety.
"With the government admitting yesterday that the Govia Thameslink Railway experiment has been a spectacular failure, and will now be broken up and reorganised yet again, the time has come to end this shambles on our tracks and bring the whole lot into public ownership."
