RMT Press Office:
RAIL union RMT has suspended planned strike action for next Wednesday and Thursday September 16/17 following some substantial movement from management regarding faulty Class 810 fleet trains.
However, action short of strike action by relevant EMR members due to commence on Sunday September 20, 2026 remains in place if any unsolicited brake applications occur to stop the train.
RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey congratulated members for their continued determination to make sure the Class 810 fleet is only used in safe conditions.
“However, it is disappointing that EMR will not accept simple union demands around unsolicited brake applications and the Aux On/Off failures.
“We all want to ensure a safe railway and RMT members at EMR will remain vigilant in the fight for safety,” he said.
