9th January strike still on!

Our Ref: LUL/4/1

Dear Colleague,

Strike called for Christmas Eve is suspended
9th January strike still on!

DISMISSAL, D. STOREY, TRAIN OPERATOR, WEST RUISLIP – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Further to previous correspondence, a meeting has taken place with your representatives to discuss this matter. Having considered the report from the Regional Organiser the NEC has decided to suspend the strike action called for 24th and 25th December 2016. Therefore members are instructed to work normally on these days.

However the strike action called for January remains on. Therefore all Train Operators and Instructor Operators at White City and West Ruislip remain instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between: -

• 0300 hours Monday 9th January 2017 until 02.59 hours Tuesday 10th January 2017.

Whilst Dean was responsible for a SPAD, the actions by management were overly harsh and incompatible with other similar cases where Drivers were not dismissed. This was a simple mistake, not an avoidance of the rules and I urge you all to stand firm together to demand that management use some common sense and stop using dismissal as a first response to any misdemeanour. The latest development is that regrettably his appeal against his dismissal has failed and we are now seeking a Director’s review.

I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely
