Strike Suspended

Dear Colleague

DISMISSAL, M DOUGHTY, CREW LEADER, EDINBURGH WAVERLEY – EAST COAST TRAINS

Further to my letter to you dated 24th March 2015 in which I instructed you to take strike action between 00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Friday 3rd April 2015, I can now advise you that this action has been suspended.

As you know, one of the demands your union has made of the company on this matter is that management should reconsider its decision to dismiss your colleague Brother Doughty. I am pleased, therefore, to be able to report that the company has now conceded to have a director’s review of Brother Doughty’s case, at which a senior member of management will study the details of the case.

With this in mind – and with the company’s acceptance to extend the period in which the ballot will remain effective for another four weeks – your union’s Executive Committee has suspended the action scheduled to take place this Friday.

We shall now await the outcome of this review prior to taking any further decisions on the matter.

I will, of course, keep you advised of any further developments as and when they arise in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
