RMT Press Office:
RMT responds as GLA Labour Group produces new figures showing surge in complaints in wake of ticket office closures.
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"These figures confirm all RMT's warnings about the dire impact on passenger services from the cuts-led ticket office closure programme.
"With over 800 tube station jobs due to be axed early next month we can expect total chaos as rammed-out services are jammed full of passengers who cannot obtain tickets or any advice and assistance.
"Boris Johnson has blundered into this latest tube fiasco and before he swans off from his post as London Mayor he should reverse his cuts and sweep up the mess he has created on his watch.
"RMT station staff members will be taking a weeks action next month when the cuts are due to be imposed as we continue to fight for jobs, services and safety."
