UNIPART RAIL STAFF STRIKE OVER UNION DERECOGNITION

27 January 2025

Rail workers at Unipart Rail’s Crewe Depot will strike Tuesday, in protest against the company’s decision to strip RMT of union recognition.

The move, described by the union as a disgraceful assault on workplace rights, has sparked outrage among staff, who are demanding the immediate restoration of their right to collective representation.

RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:

“Unipart Rail’s attempt to silence its workforce by removing union recognition is disgraceful.

“Tuesday’s strike will send a clear message that our members will not accept this attack on their rights.

“Unipart needs to do the right thing and reverse this assault on our members collective rights."

Further strike action is planned for 25th February as part of an escalation in the Industrial campaign.

The union has also launched a new ballot to renew its mandate for industrial action, with members urged to vote decisively in support of the campaign.
