Victory for 48-hr strike - solidarity from Japan

6 February 2014

RMT today received a message of solidarity from Japan.

Victory for 48-hr strike!

Dear Brother Bob Crow,
General Secretary of National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers (RMT)

We'd like to send herewith our wholehearted solidarity with your decisive 48-hr strike action against unjust dismissal of close to 1,000 union members and closure of ticket offices of the London Tube.

It has become common practice for neo-liberalism to put all the blame of budget deficit on workers and disrupt the unity of their unions.

We also keep fighting against dismissal of 1047 railway workers forced through in the course of Division and Privatization of National Railway in 1987, and eventually we have gotten Tokyo High Court to rule that it was implemented under unfair labor practice.

Victory for your strike!

Struggles of both sides be rock solid!

In Solidarity,

President of National Railway Motive Power Union of Chiba (Doro-Chiba)

Yasuhiro TANAKA
