ALL STRIKE ACTION IS SUSPENDED
Our Ref: BR1/4/12
12th June 2014
Dear Colleague
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
ALL STRIKE ACTION IS SUSPENDED
SUSPENSION FROM DUTY, S. UPTON, LONGSIGHT DEPOT – VOITH (VIRGIN WEST COAST CONTRACT)
Further to my letter dated 5th June 2014, I am happy to report that significant progress has been made in talks with Voith. I can confirm that a satisfactory agreement has now been reached between the union and the company. I can also confirm that a settlement has been reached which has been accepted by all parties; however this agreement did not secure the reinstatement of Brother Simon Upton.
Having considered this matter, the union’s executive committee has decided to suspend the industrial action. Therefore all the strike action which was due to start at 19:00 hours tonight (12th June 2014) has been suspended. You are instructed to work as normal.
This shows what can be achieved when members stand together and I would like to thank our members, as I am sure would Bro. Upton, for the magnificent support shown. It is a tribute to our members’ solidarity that the union was able to secure this resolution.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
Acting General Secretary
