NORTHERN TRAINS FFP2 MASKS

In line with RMT policy on suitable face masks to be worn by staff in circumstances where social distancing cannot be maintained, our Lead Officer has been in discussions with Northern Rail. Although able to convince the company to supply FFP2 masks for the majority of staff the company have identified a limited number of staff that are unable to wear FFP2 masks. A report on this matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee who have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the report on file from the Regional Organiser for which he is thanked.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to Northern Trains Ltd noting its position. In such circumstances where suitable FFP2 Respirators cannot be properly fitted for certain individuals, the individuals in question will have the option of not undertaking duties which involve working within two metres of colleagues or the public. Further, RMT demands a cessation of all revenue duties until the end of the current lockdown.
