Dear Colleague,

LACK OF BAME COVID-19 AWARENESS

I write further to Head Office Circular of 22nd February, reference number NP/64/21 and further to a report from your Regional Organiser. I am extremely concerned to learn that TfL have refused to arrange a specific meeting to discuss how they are protecting RMT BAME members during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 18 March 2021 to consider the report from the Regional Organiser and adopted the following resolution:

That we note the report from our lead officer. We further note that the lead officer and LTRC NEC member attended a meeting with TfL directors on 17/3/21 and challenged TfL management on their refusal to attend a meeting as sought in our previous decision NWW 18/2/21.

In response, TfL management has invited our lead officer to discuss the terms of the meeting sought and we therefore instruct the General Secretary to obtain an updated report from the lead officer following that discussion.

LTRC and branches to be informed.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction and will keep you advised of developments.
