Dear Colleague
Queen Street – Glasgow Resignalling
Queen Street in Glasgow is undergoing a high profile reshaping and refurbishment and this includes a new re-signalling scheme. As part of that scheme your representatives became aware of the introduction of Right Away indicators and sought further advice and direction from the General Secretary and NEC.
The National Executive has taken the following decision:
“We note the papers on file and the proposal to introduce Right Away indicators as part of the Glasgow Queen Street re-signalling programme. While this proposal may assist in the introduction of DOO, we also note that it is a valuable aid in controlling the risks of train dispatch where other grades of staff, including guards and platform staff are integral to the process. The introduction of Right Away signalling does not predicate DOO.
We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that the Industrial Relations issues are taken forward by our reps in Scotland.”
I am in the process of carrying out those instructions.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
