ALL BRANCHES
REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague,
STAFF SHIELDING
Your National Industrial Organising Conference of Station and Associated Grades 2021 carried the following resolution:
We at this Conference are asking the NEC to write to all TOCS regarding the number of staff who have been advised by the Government to shield during this pandemic, and we ask if the impact of this has been reviewed by the NEC.
Members across the country are suffering, some financially and others with mental health issues due to this.
Members have been hit a very large blow to their earnings with some members losing contracted hours (i.e. Sundays worked).
Your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 22nd July 2021, noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:
We note the resolution from the National Industrial Organising Conference of Station and Associated Grades.
The General Secretary is instructed to write to all TOCs as per the resolution.
Once the statistics have been provided, a survey of members to be undertaken to review the effects of shielding and an analysis of this survey to be placed before this NEC three months from today.
Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.
I am acting in line with these instructions.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
